Chemicals shipped to Mexico

Mexico's chemical demand is anchored by generic pharmaceuticals, automotive manufacturing and petrochemicals. Mexico City and the State of Mexico host many generic drug makers that buy APIs, pharmaceutical intermediates and impurity reference standards. Monterrey, Querétaro and Puebla run automotive, coatings and personal care plants, Guadalajara adds food, beverage and pharmaceutical activity, and Coatzacoalcos in Veracruz is a petrochemical hub. Agrochemical, detergent and mining companies add further demand for specialty and inorganic chemicals. Zemixal ships sea freight from Nhava Sheva or Mundra to Manzanillo, Lázaro Cárdenas, Veracruz or Altamira, with transit of roughly 32 to 45 days. Air cargo to Mexico City, Felipe Ángeles or Guadalajara usually takes 4 to 7 days. Every lot ships with a COA and a 16-section GHS SDS.

Importing chemicals into Mexico

COFEPRIS controls imports of APIs, medicines, precursors and many toxic substances, generally through sanitary import permits and, for APIs, registration-linked documents and GMP evidence. SEMARNAT regulates hazardous materials and wastes with environmental impact. Workplace hazard communication follows NOM-018-STPS-2015, which calls for a GHS-harmonised SDS in Spanish, usually arranged by the importer. Importers must be listed in the Padrón de Importadores, and a Mexican customs broker files the pedimento. Your customs broker can confirm which sector registrations apply before the order ships.

Questions

Shipping to Mexico

Which Pacific or Gulf port suits a buyer in Monterrey?
Altamira on the Gulf coast is usually the closest port for Monterrey, while Manzanillo serves central and western Mexico and Veracruz covers the east. Sea transit from India is roughly 32 to 45 days, and we quote CFR, CIF or delivered terms to the port you choose.
Do you supply the Spanish SDS required by NOM-018-STPS?
We supply a 16-section GHS SDS in English with each lot. The Spanish version required under NOM-018-STPS-2015 is usually prepared by the Mexican importer from that document. Ask in your enquiry if you need specific data to complete it. Every lot also ships with a COA for your incoming inspection.
What does a COFEPRIS permit application need from Zemixal?
Importers typically need the COA, SDS, product specification and, for APIs, GMP evidence for the manufacturing site. Raise your COFEPRIS requirement in the enquiry and we confirm which documents are available for the specific product before you apply. Allow time for the permit in your purchasing plan.
