Chemicals for paints, coatings and inks

A coating is a balance of four parts: the binder that forms the film, the pigment that gives colour and opacity, the extender that controls cost and texture, and the solvent that carries everything until it cures. Changing any one of them shifts gloss, durability, drying time or VOC content, which is why formulators specify raw materials tightly.

Raw materials Zemixal can supply

For pigments and fillers, Inorganics and Metals covers titanium dioxide, red iron oxide, zinc phosphate, calcium carbonate and talc. Resin makers find phthalic and maleic anhydride, bisphenol A and epichlorohydrin for alkyd, polyester and epoxy chemistry in Specialty Chemicals. Thinners and cosolvents such as xylene, n-butyl acetate, methyl ethyl ketone and butyl glycol come from Solvents (HPLC and GC), which also stocks technical and reagent grades, not only chromatography grades.

Testing and supply

Paint laboratories use our Lab Reagents for acid value, hydroxyl value and solids testing. Each lot carries a COA and a GHS SDS, which gives you the composition data needed for your own VOC and labelling calculations.

Flammable solvents and non-hazardous powders can often share a container when segregation rules allow. Ask for a consolidated quote and we will check stowage before confirming.
