Importing chemicals into Italy
Italy applies EU REACH and CLP. Where a substance is imported at 1 tonne or more per year, the EU importer or an Only Representative for the Indian manufacturer must register it. SDS and labels must be in Italian. Medicinal active substances need GMP compliance and an EU written confirmation, with AIFA supervising authorised importers. Dangerous goods are packed and declared to IMDG or IATA DGR, and customs clearance requires the importer's EORI number.
