Chemicals for oil, gas and petrochemicals

Glycols, amines, drilling fluid additives, completion brines, biocides and refinery lab reagents for upstream and downstream operations.

From the wellhead to the refinery, hydrocarbons are treated with a steady stream of chemicals. Drilling muds rely on barite for weight and on xanthan and guar gums for viscosity. Completion work uses calcium chloride, potassium formate and zinc bromide brines. On processing plants, MEG and methanol suppress hydrates, TEG dehydrates gas and amines such as MEA and MDEA strip hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide.

Supply for field and plant

Glycols, amines and biocides such as glutaraldehyde are listed under Specialty Chemicals. Barite, salts and brine components come from Inorganics and Metals, and methanol and other process solvents from Solvents (HPLC and GC). Refinery and terminal laboratories can source titrants, indicators and solvents for ASTM test methods through Lab Reagents.

Shipping to oilfield hubs

Most of these products move in drums, IBCs or ISO tanks by sea from Mundra or Nhava Sheva. Gulf ports such as Jebel Ali and Dammam are a short sailing from western India, which suits recurring supply to service bases. We state the expected dispatch date on every quotation and send a COA and GHS SDS with each lot.

For a recurring call-off, agree a fixed specification once and we keep the same producer where possible.

Questions

Buying for oil, gas and petrochemicals

Can you supply amines blended to a set concentration?
Many plants buy MDEA as a concentrated or pre-blended solution to reduce handling on site. Tell us the target concentration and any activator required, and we will check whether a producer can supply the blend with a COA reporting the amine content.
Is potassium formate available as a brine or a solid?
Both. Solid potassium formate is cheaper to ship, while the 75 percent brine saves mixing at the rig. We quote whichever suits your logistics, with density and pH stated for liquids.
Do glycols need dangerous goods shipping?
MEG and TEG are not classed as dangerous goods for transport, which keeps freight simple. Methanol is flammable and toxic, so it ships under IMDG Class 3 rules with a subsidiary hazard and separate stowage.
