Buyers state trace-metals basis purity such as 99.99% or 99.999%, particle size or mesh, form factor and dimensions, and sometimes crystal orientation or surface finish. Pyrophoric powders, oxidisers and toxic heavy metal salts travel under full dangerous-goods rules, and some materials need export screening before release. What does 'trace metals basis' mean on an inorganic product?
It means the stated purity is calculated from the measured levels of metallic impurities, usually by ICP-MS or ICP-OES, rather than from a direct assay of the main component. Non-metallic impurities such as oxygen, carbon or moisture may not be included. Check the COA to see which elements were tested and their limits.
Can metals be cut or sized to my drawing?
Many foils, rods, plates and targets can be supplied in custom dimensions, thicknesses or diameters. Send a drawing or the key measurements with the tolerance you need. We will confirm feasibility, lead time and the purity available in that form before quoting, since some shapes are only made from certain grades.
How do you ship air-sensitive metals and nanopowders?
Reactive materials are sealed under argon or in vacuum packs inside rigid outer containers, and pyrophoric items are classed and declared as dangerous goods. Nanopowders are double-bagged to stop dust escaping during handling. The SDS describes safe opening, which should be done in a glovebox or under inert gas where noted.
