Importing chemicals into Brazil
Many chemical imports need an LI or LPCO licence through the Siscomex Portal Único before shipment, so ask your despachante to check the NCM code early. APIs require an ANVISA-authorised importer, and many must be linked to a product registration or a CADIFA assessment before use in registered medicines. Drug precursors need Polícia Federal licensing and prior import authorisation, and some substances are also controlled by the Army. Law 15.022/2024 is introducing a national industrial chemicals inventory, with obligations phased in by regulation. Dangerous goods follow IMDG or IATA rules. Request the PTA certificate of origin for preferential duty.
