Chemicals for cosmetics and personal care

Humectants, surfactants, emollients, actives, preservatives and UV filters for skin, hair and oral care formulators.

A cream or shampoo usually contains a dozen ingredients, and each one is chosen for a specific job. Glycerin and propylene glycol hold moisture, sulfates and betaines clean and foam, fatty alcohols build texture, carbomers thicken, phenoxyethanol preserves, and actives such as niacinamide or salicylic acid give the product its claim.

What formulators source from Zemixal

Base ingredients and surfactants are listed in Specialty Chemicals. Actives such as niacinamide, allantoin, sodium hyaluronate and salicylic acid are found in Biochemicals and APIs, often in grades with pharmacopoeial documentation. Zinc oxide for mineral sunscreens comes from Inorganics and Metals, and cosmetic QC laboratories use our HPLC solvents for preservative and active assays.

Supporting your product file

Cosmetic regulations in the EU, UK, ASEAN and elsewhere require a safety assessment backed by raw-material data. Every lot ships with a COA and a GHS SDS. On request we ask the producer for heavy-metal, residual-solvent, allergen or animal-testing statements and INCI confirmations, and tell you plainly which ones exist.

New brands can start with kilogram packs and move to drums once a formula is fixed. Use compare on product pages to check grades side by side before you request a quote.

Questions

Buying for cosmetics and personal care

Do you confirm INCI names for ingredients?
Yes. Where an ingredient has an INCI name we state it on the quotation, alongside the CAS number and chemical name. For blends or trade-name materials, we ask the producer for the composition and INCI listing they declare.
Is pharmacopoeial glycerin necessary for cosmetics?
Not always, but many formulators choose USP or Ph. Eur. glycerin because the monograph limits diethylene glycol and other impurities. It also simplifies documentation if the same material is used in an oral care product.
Can you supply nano or non-nano zinc oxide?
Both exist, and the regulatory treatment differs in several markets. Tell us the particle size requirement and whether you need a coated grade, and we will ask the producer for particle size distribution data before quoting.
