Chemicals shipped to Indonesia

Indonesia's generic pharmaceutical sector is large and growing, with plants across Greater Jakarta, Bekasi, Karawang and Tangerang importing APIs and intermediates for one of the largest domestic medicine markets in Asia. Palm oil refiners and oleochemical producers in Medan and Riau, textile and dyeing mills in West Java, pulp and paper makers, nickel processors and battery projects, and food and beverage plants in Surabaya and Gresik add demand for specialty chemicals, solvents and inorganics. Cilegon in Banten and Batam host further industrial activity. Zemixal ships from Nhava Sheva or Mundra to Tanjung Priok, Tanjung Perak, Belawan or Tanjung Emas in about 12–20 days. Air cargo to Soekarno–Hatta or Surabaya takes roughly 3–5 days. Every lot carries a COA and a 16-section GHS SDS.

Importing chemicals into Indonesia

Indonesia uses import licensing for many chemical categories. Depending on the HS code, the importer may need an importer identification number, technical recommendations from the Ministry of Industry and import approvals from the Ministry of Trade. Requirements change periodically, so confirm them before shipment. APIs, excipients and some precursors need BPOM import approval (SKI) held by a registered local importer. Indonesian-language labels or SDS may be required. Dangerous goods follow IMDG or IATA rules, and AITIGA preference needs a certificate of origin.

Questions

Shipping to Indonesia

What is BPOM SKI and do we need it for APIs?
SKI is the import approval issued by BPOM for APIs, excipients and some precursors. A registered Indonesian importer must hold it before the goods arrive. Send us the SKI details so our invoice and packing list match the approved products and quantities.
Can documents include Indonesian-language labels?
Our standard labels and SDS are in English. If your importer needs Indonesian text on labels or a translated SDS for a specific product, tell us when you enquire and we will confirm what can be supplied. Many importers add local labels after clearance.
Is there a minimum order for Indonesian buyers?
No fixed minimum applies. Lab and sample quantities go by courier or air to Jakarta, while production volumes usually move by sea to Tanjung Priok or Tanjung Perak. Paste up to 200 CAS numbers into the Bulk CAS lookup to check what we list.
