Chemicals shipped to Nepal
Nepal's pharmaceutical formulators, many based in the Kathmandu Valley and along the Birgunj–Parwanipur corridor, account for much of its chemical import demand. Importing chemicals into Nepal
Imports of APIs and pharmaceutical raw materials need a recommendation from the Department of Drug Administration (DDA), and some chemicals require approval from the relevant ministry. Most cargo from India enters by road through Raxaul–Birgunj and is cleared on a customs declaration by a Nepali agent, so a road consignment note and transit papers are part of the set. The India–Nepal Treaty of Trade gives preferential access to many Indian goods, and SAFTA may also apply. Dangerous goods must be packed and labelled for road transport.
