Chiral Purity
The extent to which a sample of a chiral compound consists of a single enantiomer, usually expressed as enantiomeric excess or as the percentage of the unwanted enantiomer. It is measured by chiral HPLC, chiral GC or, less often, by optical rotation. Many drugs are marketed as single enantiomers, so the opposite isomer is treated and limited as an impurity.
