Polymorph
One of two or more crystalline forms of the same chemical compound that differ in the arrangement of molecules in the crystal lattice. Polymorphs can differ in solubility, melting point, stability and bioavailability, which matters greatly for solid dosage forms. They are identified by X-ray powder diffraction, thermal analysis and spectroscopy. Solvates and hydrates are related but contain solvent.
