Importing chemicals into Peru
APIs and pharmaceutical products need DIGEMID sanitary registration or import authorisation. A long list of chemicals classed as controlled inputs (IQBF) can only be imported by companies registered with SUNAT, and shipments must be reported to it. MINAM covers environmental matters. Clearance is handled by SUNAT customs through the VUCE single window, and dangerous goods require IMDG or IATA documentation. Importers should confirm whether a product is on the IQBF list before ordering, because unregistered companies cannot clear it. A customs broker can check this early.
