Importing chemicals into Singapore
Many industrial chemicals listed as hazardous substances under the Environmental Protection and Management Act need an NEA licence or permit before import, and each consignment is declared through TradeNet. Therapeutic products and APIs fall under HSA controls, and poisons or controlled precursors may need separate HSA licences. The Ministry of Manpower's workplace safety rules apply on site. Dangerous goods must be packed and declared to IMDG or IATA rules. A valid certificate of origin is needed to claim CECA or AITIGA preferences.
