Chemicals shipped to Thailand

Thailand's chemical industry is centred on the Eastern Economic Corridor, where Map Ta Phut in Rayong runs one of Asia's large petrochemical complexes and Chonburi and Chachoengsao host automotive and parts plants. These buyers need specialty additives, solvents and inorganics. Agrochemical formulators, food processing and ingredient companies around Bangkok, Samut Prakan and Ayutthaya, rubber and polymer product makers, and generic pharmaceutical manufacturers buying APIs and intermediates complete the demand. Zemixal ships from Nhava Sheva or Mundra to Laem Chabang in about 12–18 days, with Bangkok's Khlong Toei port and Map Ta Phut also served. Air cargo to Suvarnabhumi takes roughly 2–4 days. Each lot carries a COA and a 16-section GHS SDS, and duty may be reduced under AITIGA or the India–Thailand Early Harvest Scheme with a certificate of origin.

Importing chemicals into Thailand

Industrial chemicals listed under the Hazardous Substance Act B.E. 2535 are regulated mainly by the Department of Industrial Works. Type 2 substances need notification and Type 3 substances an import licence held by the Thai importer. Thai FDA controls APIs, medicines and certain household and precursor chemicals, while narcotics precursors fall under ONCB. Check which category your product falls into before ordering. Dangerous goods follow IMDG or IATA rules. AITIGA or Early Harvest Scheme preference requires a proper certificate of origin.

Questions

Shipping to Thailand

Does our importer need a DIW licence for this chemical?
It depends on how the substance is listed under the Hazardous Substance Act. Type 2 items need notification and Type 3 items an import licence held by the Thai importer. Send us the CAS numbers and we will provide the SDS and data the importer needs.
Which origin certificate lowers duty in Thailand?
Either AITIGA or the India–Thailand Early Harvest Scheme may apply, depending on the tariff line. Ask your broker which gives the better rate, and we will issue the matching certificate of origin with the shipping documents. The certificate is issued at export, so request it on the enquiry.
Can Thai labs order samples before a production lot?
Yes. Sample packs go by courier or air to Bangkok in about 2–4 days and carry the same COA and SDS as commercial lots. Production quantities then follow by sea to Laem Chabang. Check whether a DIW or Thai FDA permit is needed for samples.
