The preparation of a compound to a customer's specification when it is not available commercially, or not at the required purity or scale. A project typically involves route design, synthesis, purification and characterisation by NMR, MS and HPLC. Typical targets include impurity standards, metabolites, labelled compounds and building blocks, from milligram to kilogram quantities.
