Gas Chromatography (GC)
Gas chromatography separates volatile compounds carried by an inert gas through a heated column coated with a stationary phase. Each compound elutes at a characteristic retention time and is detected by a flame ionisation, electron capture or mass spectrometric detector. GC is widely used for solvent purity, residual solvents, fatty acids, fragrances and environmental contaminants.
