LOD and LOQ
The limit of detection (LOD) is the lowest amount of analyte that a method can reliably distinguish from background, often taken as a signal-to-noise ratio of about 3. The limit of quantitation (LOQ) is the lowest amount that can be measured with acceptable precision and accuracy, typically a signal-to-noise ratio of about 10. Both are established during method validation.
