UV Cutoff
The wavelength below which a solvent absorbs ultraviolet light too strongly to be useful, conventionally where absorbance reaches 1 AU in a 1 cm cell against water. Acetonitrile has a cutoff near 190 nm, methanol near 205 nm and ethyl acetate near 256 nm. Choosing a solvent with a cutoff well below the detection wavelength keeps baseline noise and drift low.
