Chemicals shipped to Ghana

Gold mining is the largest single source of chemical demand in Ghana, with operations around Obuasi and the western belt consuming reagents, inorganics and assay chemicals. Pharmaceutical manufacturers in Accra, Tema and Kumasi make a growing share of local medicines and import APIs and intermediates for them. Cocoa processing, oil and gas activity near Takoradi, paint and plastics producers and water treatment utilities add steady requirements. Zemixal ships from Nhava Sheva or Mundra to Tema or Takoradi, typically in 25–35 days. Air cargo to Accra Kotoka takes about 3–6 days and is the usual route for reference standards, assay reagents and laboratory consumables. Every lot carries a COA and a 16-section GHS SDS, and buyers can search the catalogue by name, CAS number, formula or ZX catalogue number before adding items to a single quote.

Importing chemicals into Ghana

Industrial and hazardous chemicals generally need registration or an import permit from Ghana's Environmental Protection Authority. APIs and pharmaceutical raw materials require an FDA Ghana import permit, which the importer should obtain before shipment. Customs declarations are processed through the national single window, so the consignee, HS codes and values on our invoice must match the declaration. Mining reagents are often hazardous, and shipments carrying them must have an IMDG or IATA dangerous goods declaration. There is no India–Ghana trade agreement in force.

Questions

Shipping to Ghana

Do you supply assay reagents for Ghanaian gold mines?
Yes. The Lab Reagents and Inorganics and Metals divisions cover common assay and analytical chemicals in suitable grades. Small lab quantities can fly to Accra, while larger volumes travel by sea to Tema or Takoradi. Check whether an EPA permit is needed for the specific reagent.
Which documents should a Ghanaian importer expect?
Expect a commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading or air waybill, certificate of origin, COA and 16-section GHS SDS. Add the EPA chemical permit, the FDA Ghana permit for APIs and a dangerous goods declaration where the cargo is classified as hazardous.
Which currency do you invoice Ghanaian buyers in?
Quotations and invoices are normally prepared in US dollars. Payment terms are shown on each quotation before you confirm. If your bank needs specific wording for a letter of credit or foreign-exchange application, send it with the enquiry so our documents can match it exactly.
