Mining drives much of Zimbabwe's chemical buying. Gold, platinum and lithium producers need reagents, acids and inorganics, and assay laboratories order analytical chemicals and standards. Tobacco and agro-processing, fertiliser manufacturing in Harare and Kwekwe, food and beverage plants in Bulawayo and pharmaceutical manufacturers add further demand for specialty chemicals, APIs and solvents. Zimbabwe has no coastline, so sea cargo comes through Beira in Mozambique or Durban in South Africa and continues by road.
