Coagulant
A chemical that destabilises suspended colloidal particles in water by neutralising their surface charge, allowing them to come together. Aluminium sulfate, polyaluminium chloride and ferric chloride are common coagulants. The dose depends on water quality, pH and temperature and is usually found by jar testing before treatment.
