GHS (Globally Harmonized System)
The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals, developed by the United Nations. It sets common criteria for classifying physical, health and environmental hazards and standard label elements: pictograms, signal words, hazard statements and precautionary statements. Countries adopt it through their own laws, such as CLP in the EU, so details can vary slightly between jurisdictions even though the framework is shared.
