REACH
The European Union regulation on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. Manufacturers and importers placing a substance on the EU market at one tonne or more per year must register it with the European Chemicals Agency, supported by hazard and exposure data. Some substances need authorisation or face restrictions. The United Kingdom runs a separate but similar scheme after leaving the EU.
