Molecular Weight
The mass of one molecule of a substance relative to one twelfth of a carbon-12 atom, or equivalently the mass of one mole in grams. It is calculated by adding the standard atomic weights of every atom in the formula. Salts, hydrates and solvates have higher molecular weights than the parent compound, which must be accounted for when weighing.
