Importing chemicals into Iraq

Many products need a Certificate of Conformity through Iraq's verification-of-conformity (VoC) programme before shipment, so check the requirement for your HS codes early. Hazardous and dual-use chemicals usually require ministry import approval, and APIs and medicines are regulated by the Ministry of Health, which generally asks for registration and batch testing. Security conditions affect routing and insurance, so agree the Incoterm and cover in advance. The Kurdistan Region may apply its own procedures for cargo entering through Erbil. Dangerous goods follow IMDG or IATA rules.

Shipping to Iraq

Can Zemixal help with the VoC Certificate of Conformity?

The certificate is issued by an approved inspection body, usually arranged with the importer, but we supply what it needs: COA, SDS, invoice, packing list and product photographs or inspection access where required. Tell us at enquiry stage that VoC applies so time is allowed before loading.

Which Incoterm works best for shipments to Umm Qasr?

Many Iraqi buyers choose CIF or CFR to Umm Qasr so freight is arranged from India. On CIF terms we include a marine cargo insurance certificate. If you prefer to control insurance yourself, FOB or FCA terms are available. The quotation sets out what each option covers.

Can you ship to Erbil by air?

Yes. Air freight to Erbil usually takes about 3–6 days and suits reference standards, lab reagents and urgent items. Check with your broker whether Kurdistan Region procedures apply. Some hazardous chemicals cannot fly or are limited to cargo aircraft, and we confirm this per item.
