Chemicals shipped to Oman

Oman's industrial map is spread along its coast. Sohar Industrial Port and Freezone hosts refining, petrochemicals, aluminium and steel, Duqm SEZ is building a new refining and logistics base, and Salalah Free Zone handles fertiliser and transhipment business. Copper and other mining activity, oilfield services and desalination plants all buy process chemicals, while pharmaceutical manufacturers at Rusayl and laboratories around Muscat need APIs, reagents and HPLC solvents. Zemixal ships from Nhava Sheva or Mundra to Sohar, Salalah or Duqm in about 4–8 days, one of the fastest ocean crossings we offer. Air freight to Muscat International or Salalah usually takes 2–4 days. Short transit times let Omani buyers order closer to need rather than holding large stocks. Every lot includes a COA and a 16-section GHS SDS, with characterisation data for reference standards.

Importing chemicals into Oman

Most hazardous chemicals need a permit from Oman's Environment Authority before they are imported, following GCC arrangements for pre-clearance of hazardous substances. APIs and other pharmaceutical ingredients are supervised by the Drug Safety Center at the Ministry of Health, so confirm that the importer holds the necessary approval. The India–Oman CEPA has been signed, but until it enters into force normal MFN duties apply, and no preferential certificate can yet be used. Dangerous goods must be packed and declared under IMDG or IATA rules. Free-zone consignees in Sohar, Duqm or Salalah should be named clearly on all documents.

Questions

Shipping to Oman

Can you ship to a consignee in Sohar Freezone?
Yes. Zemixal can consign cargo to companies in Sohar, Duqm or Salalah free zones. Tell us whether the goods will stay in the zone or be cleared into Oman, as this affects the documents and any Environment Authority permit. The 4–8 day sea transit makes regular smaller shipments practical.
Will the India–Oman CEPA reduce our duty now?
Not yet. The agreement has been signed but has not entered into force, so standard MFN duty rates still apply to Omani imports from India. Once it is implemented, we can issue the CEPA certificate of origin for eligible products. Ask us to note your interest on the quotation.
How do you send reference standards to Muscat?
Impurity and pharmacopoeial reference standards travel by express courier or air freight to Muscat International, usually 2–4 days in transit. Each comes with a COA and characterisation data such as HPLC, NMR, MS or IR as relevant. Items needing cold storage are packed accordingly.
