Analytical reagents are the compounds that take part in a measurement rather than simply dissolving the sample. This sub-category collects colour-forming complexing agents, scintillators, oxidation-reduction reagents and high-purity organics used as test substances. Examples include 2,4,6-Tri(2-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine (GR 99%+) for iron determination, 2,5-Diphenyloxazole in scintillation grade, and (±)-Catechin hydrate at ≥96% by HPLC for antioxidant assays.
Because the reagent becomes part of the result, its impurities matter. A trace of iron in a TPTZ batch shifts the blank, and a fluorescent impurity in a scintillator lowers counting efficiency. Our listings state assay and grade, and the lot COA reports the tests that were run. Typical choices are:
- GR or puriss grades for quantitative colorimetric work
- Scintillation grade for liquid scintillation cocktails
- HPLC-assayed grades for antioxidant and enzyme assays
Most items come in 5 g to 500 g packs, sealed and labelled with lot and expiry. Hazardous reagents are packed to dangerous-goods rules and can join the rest of your lab order in one shipment.
Analytical Reagents: questions buyers ask
Why does reagent grade affect the blank in a colorimetric method?
How should light-sensitive analytical reagents be stored?
Can you supply a reagent named in an older method that is no longer common?
