Dangerous goodsIMDG by sea, IATA DGR by air

Chemical substances imported into the US must comply with the Toxic Substances Control Act. The importer files a TSCA positive or negative certification at entry, and substances must be listed on the TSCA Inventory or be exempt. APIs for human drugs are FDA-regulated, typically supported by a Drug Master File and cGMP manufacturing, and face FDA entry review. List I and List II chemicals need DEA import registration and declarations. Ocean shipments require an ISF 10+2 filing with CBP before loading.

Questions

Solvents (HPLC & GC) for United States

Do you ship HPLC & GC solvents to United States?
Yes. We ship by sea to New York / New Jersey and Houston, by air cargo or by express courier depending on quantity and urgency. Every lot carries a COA and a 16-section GHS SDS.
Which documents come with a HPLC & GC solvents shipment to United States?
Commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of analysis and SDS as standard, plus the bill of lading or air waybill and a certificate of origin. Anything specific to EPA (TSCA) is agreed with you at quote stage.
How long does delivery to United States take?
Allow 28–40 days for ocean transit or 3–6 days by air, plus packing, export clearance and import clearance. The timeline on this page shows each stage.
Which solvent grade should I use for LC-MS rather than HPLC-UV?
LC-MS methods need solvents with very low metal ion and non-volatile residue content, because sodium and potassium adducts and background ions show up in the mass spectrum. HPLC-UV methods care mainly about UV cut-off and particle content. Choose LC-MS grade for mass detection and gradient HPLC grade for UV work to balance cost and performance.
How should opened bottles of HPLC solvent be stored?
Keep bottles tightly capped, away from light and at room temperature, and avoid topping up reservoirs with fresh solvent over old. Acetonitrile and methanol absorb moisture and pick up contaminants from the air, and tetrahydrofuran can form peroxides once its stabiliser is used up. Date each bottle on opening and follow your lab's in-use period.
