GC Grade chemicals
Solvents for gas chromatography with high GC purity, low non-volatile residue and few peaks that interfere with FID, ECD or MS.
What the grade guarantees
In gas chromatography the solvent is injected with the sample, so every volatile impurity can appear as a peak. GC grade solvents are purified for a clean chromatogram in the retention window you care about and for low non-volatile residue, which otherwise accumulates in the liner.
Variants to know
- Capillary GC grade is checked for interfering peaks with an FID.
- Pesticide residue grade is concentrated before testing and checked with an ECD, because residue methods evaporate large volumes.
- Headspace grade covers DMSO, DMF and DMAc tested for low volatile organics, for residual solvent analysis to ICH Q3C.
- GC-MS grade is tested for low background in mass spectrometry.
Typical specification points
GC purity of 99.8 percent or more, non-volatile residue of 1 to 3 mg/L, water of 0.02 to 0.05 percent and, for residue grades, ECD-active impurities expressed as a lindane equivalent.
When to choose it and documentation
Pick the variant that matches your detector and sample preparation. Each lot comes with a COA and a GHS SDS. See Solvents (HPLC and GC) for products.
