LR Grade (Laboratory Reagent) chemicals
Good-quality, economical chemicals for synthesis, teaching and general laboratory work where trace impurities do not matter.
What the grade means
LR, or Laboratory Reagent, grade is a practical grade for everyday lab work. The assay is typically 97 to 99 percent and the specification names only a few impurities, often with wider limits than analytical grades. Other producers sell similar material as pure, synthesis grade or SQ.
Typical specification points
- Assay of 97 to 99 percent or more.
- Appearance and identity conforming to description.
- Selected impurities such as chloride at 0.01 to 0.05 percent.
- Heavy metals around 10 to 20 ppm where specified.
- Water or loss on drying where relevant.
When to choose it
LR grade suits organic and inorganic synthesis where the product is purified afterwards, student practicals, qualitative tests, cleaning and general bench solutions. Paying for analytical purity adds nothing in these uses. Switch to AR grade when the reagent feeds directly into a quantitative result, and to extra pure for a middle ground.
Documentation
Each lot still ships with its own COA and a 16-section GHS SDS, so you know exactly what you received. See Lab Reagents for products.
