First-row transition metal salts are among the most used inorganic chemicals in laboratories and industry. This sub-category supplies their sulphates, chlorides, nitrates, acetates and double salts. Examples include Ammonium ferrous sulphate (Mohr's salt) and Ammonium ferric sulphate in standard and GR grades, Ammonium nickel sulphate, Ammonium chromate and Ammonium dichromate.
Analytical chemists rely on Mohr's salt as a stable source of iron(II) for redox titrations, and on ferric alum as an indicator in Volhard titrations. Platers and battery researchers need nickel, cobalt and manganese salts with very low levels of other metals, which is why trace metals basis grades exist. Chromium(VI) compounds are carcinogenic and tightly regulated, so check local restrictions before ordering.
Most salts are stable crystalline solids shipped at ambient temperature in sealed bottles or drums. Oxidisers and toxic compounds travel under dangerous-goods rules. Each lot comes with a COA and SDS, and kilogram packs are available for plating and process users.
