Essential oils are complex natural mixtures distilled or expressed from plants, and India is a major source of many of them. This sub-category supplies single-origin oils and absolutes for perfumery, aromatherapy and flavours. Examples include Bergamot oil of Italian origin, Ambrette seed absolute, Angelica seed oil, Anise star oil, Basil oil (Comoros type), Siam benzoin resin absolute and Sweet birch oil.

Quality is judged by origin, extraction method and composition. A GC profile showing key markers, such as linalool and linalyl acetate in bergamot, confirms identity and helps detect adulteration. Physical constants like refractive index, optical rotation and density give quick checks on each lot. For skin products, allergen content and phototoxic compounds such as bergapten need attention.

Oils are packed in aluminium bottles or lined drums, filled to limit headspace. Each lot comes with a COA and SDS. Samples can be sent for evaluation before you order larger amounts.

Essential Oils: questions buyers ask

How can I check an essential oil for adulteration?
Compare the GC profile with published ranges for that oil and origin, looking for unusual ratios or synthetic markers. Physical constants such as optical rotation and refractive index outside normal ranges also raise flags. Chiral GC and isotope analysis are used for higher-value oils where adulteration is common.
Why is bergaptene-free bergamot oil sometimes required?
Natural bergamot oil contains bergapten, a furocoumarin that can cause skin reactions in sunlight. Many leave-on cosmetic products therefore use bergapten-free oil, from which these compounds are removed. Check your product type and the restrictions in your market before choosing the grade.
Do essential oils need special shipping?
Many essential oils are classed as flammable liquids or environmentally hazardous for transport, so they travel as dangerous goods with proper packaging and declarations. Small quantities may qualify for limited quantity rules. We confirm the classification for each oil when quoting and choose the right route.
