Industrial acids, alkalis and salts are workhorse chemicals bought by the tonne for cleaning, pickling, neutralisation and production. This sub-category lists the core range, including Hydrochloric Acid 33–35%, Nitric Acid 60–68%, Phosphoric Acid 85%, Phosphorous Acid, Perchloric Acid, Glacial Acetic Acid, Magnesium Sulphate Heptahydrate and Bentonite in API and OCMA grades for drilling fluids.

Concentration, impurity limits and packaging are the deciding factors. Metal finishers watch iron and heavy metal content in acids, while fertiliser and food users need phosphoric acid of suitable grade. Bentonite for drilling is specified by its API or OCMA rheology tests, which show how it will thicken a mud.

Corrosive acids are filled into compatible HDPE drums or IBCs and shipped as dangerous goods. Perchloric and nitric acids need careful segregation as oxidisers. Each lot comes with a COA and SDS. Send monthly consumption and destination through our RFQ form for container pricing.

Industrial Acids, Alkalis & Salts: questions buyers ask

What does API grade mean for bentonite?
In this context API refers to the American Petroleum Institute, whose specification 13A sets viscosity, filtrate loss and other tests for drilling-grade bentonite. OCMA is an older related specification. Both confirm the clay will build the right mud properties. It is unrelated to the pharmaceutical term API.
How should concentrated nitric acid be stored?
Store it in its original acid-resistant container, upright, in a cool, ventilated area away from organic materials, reducing agents, metals and bases. Nitric acid is a strong oxidiser and can react violently with combustible substances. Use secondary containment and appropriate protective equipment when handling.
Can phosphoric acid be supplied in food grade?
Yes. Phosphoric acid is offered in technical, food and pharmaceutical grades, which differ in limits for heavy metals, arsenic and fluoride. Food grade is used as an acidulant in drinks and processed foods. State the grade and concentration you need, and we will confirm documentation and packaging.
