Additives and initiators start, steer and protect polymerisation, often at low concentrations. This sub-category lists radical photoinitiators, diamines and dianhydrides for high-performance polymers, fluorinated monomers and flame-retardant intermediates. Examples include 2,2-Dimethoxy-2-phenylacetophenone (DMPA), 2,2-Diethoxyacetophenone, 1,3-Bis(4-aminophenoxy)benzene for polyimides, 2,2,2-Trifluoroethyl methacrylate and 2,3,4,5,6-Pentafluorostyrene.
Photoinitiators are chosen by absorption wavelength, efficiency and whether they yellow the cured product. Acetophenone types such as DMPA suit clear coatings cured with mercury lamps. Polyimide monomers need high purity and low moisture, since even small amounts of water or monoamine cut the molecular weight. Fluorinated monomers give low refractive index and low surface energy, which suits optical cladding and repellent coatings.
Light-sensitive items are packed in amber or opaque containers, and moisture-sensitive dianhydrides are sealed under dry gas. Each lot ships with a COA and SDS. To compare several initiators by absorption and form, use the product compare tool before sending your enquiry through the quote panel.
