Supplying solvents (HPLC & GC) to Uganda

By sea, containers and LCL lots take roughly 25–35 days to Mombasa (via road/rail) and Dar es Salaam (via road/lake). Air cargo to Entebbe (EBB) takes 3–5 days, which suits small and urgent packs. The relevant authority is UNBS (PVoC) / NEMA. Our export desk lines up the COA, GHS SDS and shipping documents to match. Common grades for this division are HPLC / gradient grade, LC-MS grade, Spectroscopy (UV/IR) grade and GC / headspace grade.

Dangerous goodsIMDG by sea, IATA DGR by air

Sea cargo is discharged at Mombasa or Dar es Salaam and moves inland under transit bonds, so transit documents must be in order before arrival. Many goods need a UNBS Certificate of Conformity under the pre-export verification programme. The National Drug Authority licenses importers and issues verification for APIs and medicines on each consignment. Controlled precursors and agrochemicals need separate permits, and NEMA covers environmental matters. Dangerous goods follow IMDG rules at sea and regional road rules inland.

Questions

Solvents (HPLC & GC) for Uganda

Do you ship HPLC & GC solvents to Uganda?
Yes. We ship by sea to Mombasa (via road/rail) and Dar es Salaam (via road/lake), by air cargo or by express courier depending on quantity and urgency. Every lot carries a COA and a 16-section GHS SDS.
Which documents come with a HPLC & GC solvents shipment to Uganda?
Commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of analysis and SDS as standard, plus the bill of lading or air waybill and a certificate of origin. Anything specific to UNBS (PVoC) / NEMA is agreed with you at quote stage.
How long does delivery to Uganda take?
Allow 25–35 days for ocean transit or 3–5 days by air, plus packing, export clearance and import clearance. The timeline on this page shows each stage.
Which solvent grade should I use for LC-MS rather than HPLC-UV?
LC-MS methods need solvents with very low metal ion and non-volatile residue content, because sodium and potassium adducts and background ions show up in the mass spectrum. HPLC-UV methods care mainly about UV cut-off and particle content. Choose LC-MS grade for mass detection and gradient HPLC grade for UV work to balance cost and performance.
How should opened bottles of HPLC solvent be stored?
Keep bottles tightly capped, away from light and at room temperature, and avoid topping up reservoirs with fresh solvent over old. Acetonitrile and methanol absorb moisture and pick up contaminants from the air, and tetrahydrofuran can form peroxides once its stabiliser is used up. Date each bottle on opening and follow your lab's in-use period.
