Metal foils serve as electrodes, current collectors, diffusion barriers, X-ray filters and substrates, and their value depends on thickness, purity and surface quality. This sub-category supplies foils and sheets of many metals in a wide range of gauges. Aluminium foil is listed from 0.002 mm through 0.006, 0.0065, 0.008, 0.010 and 0.020 mm thicknesses at 99% and 99%+ purity, with other metals offered in similar ranges.

Thickness tolerance becomes critical at the thin end, where small variations change mass per area and transmission. Temper also matters, since annealed foils are soft and conform to surfaces while hard-rolled foils are stiffer. Surface finish, either bright or matt, affects adhesion and optical behaviour. State these needs on your enquiry.

  • Ultra-thin foils for X-ray, beam and filter work
  • Battery current collector and electrode foils
  • Thicker sheets for machining and targets

Foils ship flat between protective interleaves or rolled on cores to prevent creasing. Each order includes a COA, and custom cut sizes can be quoted.

Metal Foils & Sheets: questions buyers ask

How thin can metal foils be supplied?
Some metals, including aluminium, gold and copper, can be rolled to a few microns, and aluminium is listed down to 0.002 mm. Very thin foils are fragile and are often supplied on a backing or in small pieces. Tell us the thickness, area and tolerance you need so we can confirm what is practical.
Should I choose annealed or hard foil?
Annealed foil is soft and ductile, so it bends, folds and conforms without cracking, which suits sealing, wrapping and electrode forming. Hard or as-rolled foil is stiffer and holds its shape, which helps for self-supporting windows and spacers. The choice depends on how you will handle and form it.
How should thin foils be handled to avoid damage?
Handle foils with clean gloves or tweezers on a flat, clean surface, and cut them with sharp blades or punches between sheets of paper. Avoid touching the active area, as fingerprints contaminate surfaces. Store unused foil flat in its original packing, away from humidity that can cause corrosion.
