Pathology and clinical laboratories prefer reagents that arrive ready to use, because consistent results depend on consistent preparation. This sub-category supplies prepared staining solutions, buffers and test reagents for routine diagnostics and teaching. Examples include Albert's stain A and B solutions for diphtheria staining, Aceto carmine and Aceto orcein solutions for chromosome work, Alcian blue solution, Acetate buffer solution pH 4.6 and 5-Sulphosalicylic acid 30% solution for urine protein tests.

When choosing a ready-made solution, check the formulation reference, such as the named method it follows, and the stated shelf life after opening. Clinical users should also confirm whether their regulator requires registered diagnostic products for patient testing.

Solutions are filled in amber or HDPE bottles, usually 100 mL to 500 mL, with larger packs for busy labs. Each lot includes a COA and SDS. Order stains alongside dyes, buffers and slides in one quote panel enquiry to simplify restocking.

Diagnostic & Clinical Reagents: questions buyers ask

How is the sulphosalicylic acid test used for urine protein?
Adding 5-sulphosalicylic acid solution to clear urine precipitates proteins, giving turbidity in proportion to the protein level. It detects albumin and globulins, including some that dipsticks miss. Results are graded visually or by turbidimetry, and positive screens are usually confirmed with a quantitative method.
What is Albert's stain used for?
Albert's stain demonstrates metachromatic volutin granules in Corynebacterium diphtheriae. Solution A contains toluidine blue and malachite green, and solution B is an iodine-based mordant. The granules stain blue-black against a green bacillus, which supports presumptive identification in clinical microbiology before culture confirmation.
How long do ready-made staining solutions last?
Shelf life depends on the formulation and is printed on the label and COA. Many solutions remain usable for one to two years unopened. After opening, evaporation, precipitation and contamination shorten it. Filter stains that develop deposits, record opening dates, and replace solutions that give weaker or uneven staining.
