Measuring an enzyme usually means giving it a substrate that changes colour or fluorescence when it reacts. This sub-category gathers such substrates together with inhibitors and protein-related reagents. Esterase substrates like 1-Naphthyl acetate GR 99%+, 2-Naphthyl acetate and 1-Naphthyl butyrate feature alongside 2,7-Dichlorofluorescein in ACS reagent grade and 1-Methylimidazole, a catalyst and buffer component.
For substrates, look at purity and the level of free chromophore, since free naphthol or fluorescein raises background before the enzyme acts. For inhibitors, check potency data, solubility and stability in your assay buffer. Many naphthyl esters are used in histochemical staining of blood cells and tissues as well as in plate assays.
Products are packed in small sealed vials or bottles, many protected from light. Store them as the label directs, often cold and dry. Each lot comes with a COA, and further assay information can be requested through the quote panel.
